Why it matters

If Something Goes Wrong

Six problems cover nearly every Smart TV issue we’re contacted about. Work down this list before assuming the subscription is at fault.

Smarters isn't in my TV's store

Store availability varies by country and model year, especially on Samsung and LG. Update the TV's software and search again. Still missing? Any Xtream Codes player in the store works with the same login — or add a Fire TV Stick.

"Invalid credentials"

Almost always a typo from the TV keyboard. Check for a capital I where there should be a lowercase l, a trailing space, and that the server URL includes http:// and the port. Retype rather than correct.

Buffering during live sport

TV Wi-Fi chips are weaker than phones'. Plug the TV into the router with an Ethernet cable — almost every Smart TV has a port — or move it to the 5GHz band.

The app is slow or crashes

Older TVs have little memory. Clear the app's cache under the TV's app settings, close other apps, and restart the TV. Models from 2018 or earlier often run better with a streaming stick.

The guide is empty

Give it a minute on first load. Still blank? Close the app fully and reopen — the guide downloads separately from the channel list and occasionally needs a second attempt.

No sound on some channels

Set the TV's audio output to PCM or Auto, or switch the player in Smarters under Settings → Player Selection. Surround-sound feeds are the usual cause.

The Five Steps

Step 1 — Check which system your TV runs

Open the TV’s Settings → Support or About screen. Samsung runs Tizen, LG runs webOS, and Sony, TCL, Philips and many Hisense models run Android TV or Google TV. The system decides which store you use in step 2.

Step 2 — Install IPTV Smarters Pro from the TV’s store

On Android TV and Google TV, open Google Play and search IPTV Smarters Pro. On Samsung, press Home, open Apps and use the search icon. On LG, open the LG Content Store and search. Install it like any other app — nothing needs to be sideloaded.

Step 3 — Open the app and choose Xtream Codes

Launch IPTV Smarters Pro, accept the terms, then select Login with Xtream Codes API. Avoid the M3U option — it’s harder to type with a remote and gives a poorer programme guide.

Step 4 — Enter your three fields

Type any profile name, then the username, password and server URL from your welcome message, exactly as written — including http:// and the port number. Select Add User. A phone keyboard app for your TV brand makes this quicker if your remote is slow to type with.

Step 5 — Let it load, then save favourites

The first load takes up to a minute while channels, films and the guide download; after that it opens in seconds. Open Live TV, long-press the channels you watch most to add them to Favourites, and you’re done.

Samsung and LG: what to know

Samsung and LG review their stores by country, so an app listed in one region can be missing in another, and very old models don’t receive new apps at all. If that’s your TV, nothing is wrong with your subscription — your login works in any Xtream Codes player, and a Fire TV Stick or Google TV dongle in a spare HDMI port takes about five minutes to set up.

No compatible app? Use a stick

Roku TVs, Hisense VIDAA models and older Smart TVs are easiest with a streaming stick. Our Firestick guide walks through it in two minutes, and the picture quality is the same — the stick simply supplies the app the TV can’t.

FAQ

Common Questions

On many Samsung models, yes — search for it under Apps. Availability varies by country and model year. If it isn’t listed, use another Xtream Codes player from the store or add a Fire TV Stick; your login works in both.

On many LG models it’s in the LG Content Store. If your TV doesn’t list it, the same login works in other Xtream Codes players, or with a Fire TV Stick in a spare HDMI port.

Yes — install it on every device you own. Single-term plans allow one stream at a time; if two people want to watch at once, choose a 2, 3 or 4-connection plan.

Roku TVs, Hisense VIDAA models and older Samsung or LG TVs that no longer receive new apps. A Fire TV Stick or Google TV dongle solves all of them.

TV Wi-Fi hardware is usually weaker. An Ethernet cable from the router to the TV fixes most cases; otherwise move the TV to the 5GHz Wi-Fi band.
